Nourish your skin from head to toe with this natural balm you can make at home with a few simple ingredients. These ingredients help to protect the skin and seal in moisture to keep the skin soft and supple. Can be used anywhere the skin needs extra moisture or TLC. This balm is perfect after a body exfoliation to soothe the skin. You can use it unscented or add your favorite essential oils. Your skin is going to love you for this!
Recipe
Makes approximately 7 oz. body balm. You will need a glass jar (or a few small jars if you want to divide the base), a glass Pyrex measuring cup and a glass stirring rod or metal spoon.
Melt ingredients one at a time using the double-boiler method. Fill up a pot with water about ¼ full and place the Pyrex inside the pot. Do not set temperature too high for water to start to boil.
Start adding your ingredients: First starting with beeswax, then coconut oil, sweet almond oil, then Shea butter.
To add aroma to your balm- add essential oils once all ingredients are melted. You can also divide the melted mixture into separate jars too for this. Another option is to make one large jar of the unscented base, then if you want to make a separate jar with aroma, you can set some of the base aside, re-melt it in the stove-top method, then add essential oils. A good rule of thumb is to use about 12 drops of essential oil per oz. of base. For the total base, that would be 84 drops of essential oil total for 7 oz. of base.
