The Basic And Applied Nursing Research Journal published the results of a clinical trial to test if aromatherapy with Lemongrass Essential Oil could reduce the labor pain experienced by first time mothers.

Lemongrass was diffused near the expectant mothers during the first stage of labor, and pain levels were periodically measured.

The researchers concluded that inhalation of Lemongrass Essential Oil was able to reduce labor pain and promote greater comfort during the process.
