A recent study concluded the following regarding Lemon Eucalyptus Essential Oil.
Essential oils extracted from Eucalyptus leaves have antioxidant, antimicrobial, immunoregulatory, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
While conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, known as NSAIDs, cause fewer serious side effects than their steroidal counterparts, they may nonetheless induce GI bleeding, distress, inflammation and ulceration in many patients, thereby reducing therapeutic compliance and treatment efficacy.
Here, we investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of the leaf essential oils from four Eucalyptus tree species.
We demonstrated that the leaf essential oils from Eucalyptus citriodora, otherwise known as Lemon Eucalyptus, exert the best inhibitory activity than other species.
These results suggested that leaf essential oils from Lemon Eucalyptus can be developed as an anti-inflammatory agent in the future.
