I was away in sunny Florida recently and spent time with my good friend Joan, who is also fellow integrative Health Coach. As usual, when we get together we enjoy creating new projects and sharing ideas. As always I travel with my Essential Oil kit, never leaving home without it. There is always an opportunity to put it to good use. There is something about sharing what you love with like-minded friends that just fires the soul! This is why I wanted to share this amazing recipe she created with all of you.
Inspired by the tropics, this Coconut-Lime Sugar Scrub is uplifting and refreshing to the senses and will exfoliate dry, dull skin, leaving it soft and glowing.

3 Simple Ingredients…
- Coconut Oil- soothes and protects the skin leaving it soft and supple. It is abundant in fatty acids and great for all skin types. I use virgin, unrefined.
- Lime Essential Oil– It’s crisp aroma is uplifting, refreshing and cleansing to the body and mind.
- Pure Cane Sugar- Exfoliates dead skin cells revealing the healthy glowing skin.
Recipe:
In a bowl mix the following. Store in a PET Plastic container*
- ½ cup Pure Cane Sugar
- 1/4-1/2 cup Virgin Coconut Oil
- 15 drops Lime Essential Oil
Note: This recipe is meant to be used on the body, not the face. Add more coconut oil as needed, to the consistency you desire. Remember, coconut oil is solid at room temperature. Blend ingredients well with a small spatula or soon. It will be a thicker, creamier consistency, which is different then most scrubs made with a liquid carrier oil. This is what makes it unique!
*PET plastic containers make great containers for scrubs and leave the scrub in the shower. Use a handful on your arms, legs and back. Don’t use on your face. It can make the shower floor slippery. If it does, make sure you clean the bathroom floor when finished.
Do not exfoliate 24-48 hours after shaving.
I hope you enjoy bringing the tropics to you with this body care recipe!
